About the customer:
Unilever is a private, multinational British-Dutch consumer goods company. Unilever is organized into four main divisions: food, food refreshments (drinks and ice cream), home care and beauty, and personal care. It owns more than 400 brands specializing in hygiene and health products, pharmaceuticals, food, detergents, and medicines. The company employs 180,000 employees in over 190 countries around the world. 2,500 of these employees are spread across 5 factories, distribution centers, and marketing and sales centers in Israel.
About the project and the challenges:
The goals and objectives of this project were divided into three sections. (1) Client Digitalization – to increase the engagement between the customer and organization by focusing on marketing efforts. (2) Research and development – to dramatically reduce plastic usage with technological innovations and breakthroughs in the sustainable materials field, while striving to promote a circular economy. (3) Sales and Operations – to synchronize the sales and operations departments to ensure that products sold are in stock and can be sent as quickly as possible.
The results of the process:
After an extensive scouting process for innovative technological solutions for the three challenges previously mentioned, 70 potential solutions were collected in the final screening process. From these, 15 solutions proved to be most suitable both in terms of technological maturity and business maturity. These 15 solutions were presented to a group of Unilever managers from various relevant business units. After thorough inspection and discussion, the various managers selected 10 startups that would continue forward in terms of development to join opportunities with Unilever.
