Client Story: Orbia
“As a multinational corporation composed of several, and very different, business groups, our goal is to establish measurable, standardized global innovation activities that go across geographies and overcome the challenges that are inherent to such complex organizations. Spyre’s methods are currently at the foundation of our organic innovation activities and we are very excited about the outcomes they have generated.”
About the customer:
Orbia (previously named Mexichem) is a Mexican company, and one of the largest petrochemical companies in the world. It functions in several industries, including building and infrastructure, data communications, irrigation, chemicals, and more. It has operations in 41 countries, with more than 22,000 employees (as of 2019). The large company is global and has many different divisions and subsidiaries.
About the project and the challenges:
Orbia’s VP of Innovation is responsible for the innovation activities of five subsidiaries.
The goal was to establish an innovation ecosystem that would operate in all subsidiaries and also lead to horizontal synergies. We completed the first round of projects in two of the subsidiaries (Netafim and Vestolit) and launched the first round in Duraline, with the goal of continuing to operate in additional rounds that will become part of the companies’ regular work processes.
The results of the process:
The leading projects from the completed rounds, that were selected to continue their development and move towards implementation, received funding and support from the company’s management and are now receiving our personal guidance and mentorship. Within the companies in which cycles were completed additional cycles are planned, and the beginning of the first cycle is commencing in the remaining subsidiaries.
