About the customer:
Netafim is an Israeli manufacturer of irrigation equipment such as drippers, dripper lines, sprinklers, and micro-emitters. Netafim also manufactures and distributes crop management technologies, including monitoring and control systems, dosing systems, and crop management software, as well as a variety of services such as managed irrigation, agronomic advisory, and operation and maintenance. Netafim, which ranks 26th on the Dun & Bradstreet list of all industrial companies in Israel, has over 30% market share, with 17 factories and approximately 4,300 employees worldwide.
About the project and the challenges:
The goals at the start of the project were to create a structured innovation system that would enable and promote innovation by employees. Netafim started with a single cycle of innovation in order to evaluate the initiatives it created. Success would mean creating three initiatives that were good enough to implement in the annual work plans. The ultimate goal was to learn from this pilot process and perform several such cycles as an integral part of the corporate culture.
The results of the process:
Although the plan was to select only three ventures to proceed to the experimentation and implementation phases, six ventures were eventually selected due to the significant potential that the executive team saw in them. These ventures received budgets and resources and were entered into the annual work plans across departments. Due to the pilot’s success, the client is currently planning the next innovation cycle along with additional activities that will deepen its integration into the corporate culture.
